Billinge Bakehouse in Wigan

"We had a lovely brunch here, this morning. The service was excellent and we enjoyed a wonderful Eggs Royal and avocado with poached eggs on toast. We then sampled the homemade pastries with a lovely latte. The pastries were delicious so we'll definitely be back for more! We then treated ourselves to an irresistible cake-away. All in all, it was wonderful and we can't wait to get more of those exquisite pastries. The pain au chocolat was one of the best I've tasted outside France in quite some time."

"With not being a local person, I was super impressed with this place . An amazing gem I love to go too , when visiting friends and family. The food is always well cooked and presented with a variety of options to choose from. Amazing staff who are polite and efficient even when I've visited in busy periods. The owner does amazing handcrafted pastry and cakes which you can tell comes from the love of his job. Had to stop myself buying them all I would mostly definitely always recommend this place to anyone."

"I've been really impressed with the Billinge Bakehouse especially over this last few months. The young lad who has taken it over has clearly got some skill in the kitchen and real pride in his work and the quality of service he and his team provide. His freshly made cakes are works of art and other customers tell me they are as good as they look but I've never been able to manage one after a full English, which I have to say is up there with the best I've had and probably the reason I'm writing this review. Its the sort of place I'm really glad to see in Billinge. We've always enjoyed bringing the kids here for an ice cream over the years and I practically lived there many years ago when I was a young man and Antony and Antonio DeRoma had it. I never felt it was ever the same again after they sold it, good enough but not quite at the same level. But i think it's fair to say it's gone from a good, cheap and cheerful cafe which was probably beginning to look a bit tired before it was sold to the current owner to a place that is just much more of a treat to go to and enjoy a good meal or a good coffee, instead of just dropping in for an ice cream, which they still have. It's very clean again and has been freshened up a lot and there is some real quality and freshness in the menu. Great food, good coffee, warm and attentive service and really good value for money! A welcome addition to Billinge!"

"I have just sampled the homemade coffee and walnut cake from Billinge Bakehouse. I have to say I was very impressed. The flavour was spot on, the texture of the cake was excellent, and the filling/topping just right. You can definitely taste the difference between these cakes and shop bought offerings. I'd happily recommend others to try these, you won't be disappointed."

"Was great to pop in and enjoy the ice cream on my first visit since the change to Billinge Bakehouse. The changes have been a massive improvement, with great choices of food, drinks and ice cream served by a friendly team. It’s a big positive of having vegan ice cream and food on the menu, so I look forward to trying out more items on the menu on my next visit."
